During the last days of January 2024, thousands of farmers decided to block highways at several locations around the French capital using hundreds of lumbering tractors and mounds of hay bales. They aimed to pressure the government over the future of their industry, shaken by the repercussions of the Ukrainian war.
The protesters started their journey with reserves of food, water and tents in order to stay at barricades for days, despite the cold.
These pictures were taken near Jossigny, a small suburban town in the South-East of Paris on January 31st. Blockades were lifted the very next morning.
